Canon EOS R5 vs EOS R6 Mark II Autofocus: The focusing capabilities of your camera
Canon experts developed industry-leading Dual Pixel CMOS AF II to bring speed and precision to your focusing capabilities. Both cameras are equipped with it, allowing you to focus in less than a second without losing image quality. On the EOS R5, AI-based technology will identify, track and focus on humans (including eyes, faces, heads and bodies), animals (including dogs, cats and birds) and vehicles (including cars and bikes) from 1053 automatic AF positions and 5940 selectable autofocus points. The EOS R6 Mark II offers a little more, and can focus on humans (each eye, face, head and body), animals (including dogs, cats, birds and horses), and vehicles (including cars, bikes, aircraft and trains) from 1053 automatic AF areas and a slightly fewer 4897 selectable positions.
Verdict: Both use top-of-the-range, deep learning autofocus that delivers all of the focus without losing quality. The EOS R6 Mark II can recognise more subjects while the EOS R5 can focus on more selectable positions.
